Create a domain alias

  • This feature is available for domains on Bip Plus

If you want to use your own domain with Bip, you can link it as an alias of your Bip domain. Then, anyone visiting either your Bip domain, or your own domain will see your website.

To link your domain, you’ll need to create a ANAME/ALIAS record for your root domain, and a CNAME for your www subdomain. Point both records to:

edge.bip.sh

ANAME and ALIAS are interchangeable terms, so domain/DNS providers may use either.

Now your domain is ready to be used with Bip. Next, run:

bip domain alias create

You’ll be prompted to enter your Bip domain, followed by the domain you want to link to it.

After a few moments, your new alias will be created and you’ll be able to see the website you have hosted on Bip, on your own domain too.

  • Note that in some cases, it can take 24 - 48 hours for DNS changes to propagate.
  • If you’re using Cloudflare, you’ll need to disable Orange Cloud on your domain (ensure it is grey), otherwise SSL certificate creation will fail.
